From Silicon Valley back to Saarland.

Young technology start-up moving to Saarbrücken Science Park.

The product of the founder Tobias Eichenwald and his four fellow initiators works with a Bluetooth connection between an iPhone or Smartphone and the company’s own ‘app’. It enables convenient precision measurement from a distance and thus makes the work of architects and craftsmen easier.

Eichenwald’s family has been working with measurement technology for over 20 years. This Saarland native realised a long time ago that traditional laser distance meters were not exploiting all their potential. That is where the idea for this new product started. And because they were also focusing on the US market these eager young businessmen decided to establish their company in Silicon Valley from the start. Their start-up immediately attracted great attention in the tech community.

The headquarters of Senic will remain in the region around San Francisco. Apart from one branch in China there is now another office in Saarland. This is home to the company’s founders. The most important thing for the young engineers was the scientific environment that they found right on their doorstep in Saarland. They certainly want to benefit from the universities that have measurement technology courses and therefore also suitably qualified staff.

Science Park Saar

Science Park Saar, with its striking glass façade and twelve-storey office tower, is more than just a symbol of structural change in Saarland. Young, innovative companies are finding a new home at the Science Park on the campus of Saarland University. The integration of research, science and business within this small area and the technology transfer with already established companies make it a particularly attractive location to start a company.
