Saarland entrepreneurs meet hydrogen representative: support with connection to the supra-regional hydrogen network

On January 24h, during the high-level discussion of Saarland entrepreneurs with Andreas Rimkus, the hydrogen representative of the SPD parliamentary group, Rimkus assured his support regarding the connection of Saarland to the supra-regional hydrogen network. The Saarland Hydrogen Agency GmbH (h2saar) had invited.

On the occasion of his visit to Saarland, the hydrogen representative of the SPD parliamentary group, Andreas Rimkus, and representatives of Saarland companies met in the Ministry of Economic Affairs for a round table. Also the Saarland representative to the federal government, State Secretary Thorsten Bischoff, the Saarland representative for structural change, Dr. Frank Nägele, and representatives of the Verband der Saarhütten attended the meeting.

At the invitation and under the moderation of h2saar, multiple topics – from technical needs to network charges or funding and legislative requirements – that are necessary for a successful connection of Saarland to a supra-regional hydrogen network were discussed. With Iqony, Stahl-Holding Saar, EnergieSaarLorLux, Bosch and Creos, important companies and players in the development of Saarland´s  hydrogen economy were represented.

The representatives of the Saarland companies stressed that a quick access to hydrogen is of biggest importance for their companies. Agreement existed on the fact that the basic conditions had to be clearly defined so that a successful  transformation could be implemented on time

Andreas Rimkus assured that he would work to ensure that a quick connection is made possible and that local companies are not disadvantaged against competitors from other German states.

`We appreciate very much that Mr. Rimkus took the time for this discussion. This shows us that Saarland is increasingly becoming a focus of political attention also at the federal level. An important prerequisite for our region as an industrial location to be successfully aligned to a climate-neutral future,` said the managing director of the Saarland Hydrogen Agency, Dr. Bettina Hübschen.
