July 2016

On 13 July, the Schule für Architektur Saar at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes (htw saar) organized its summer party at its new location in Göttelborn. The architecture students of the Hochschule just finished their first semester on the Campus Göttelborn. With their lecturers and campus neighbours they came together in front of their building to have a barbecue and refreshing drinks. Particularly nice: Also the new head of the building department, Prof. Heiko Lukas who had been a lecturer at the university until March, joined the party. erte.

Presently, 250 young people are enrolled at the Schule für Architektur Saar. For almost everybody, the move to Göttelborn had quite an impact on the everyday life. However, the former industrial location slowly becomes a real university campus, with appropriate libraries and working areas also for the students of architecture. In line with this, the architecturally appealing buildings used by htw – all of them now cladded with metal plates – are industrial monuments such as the Werkstatt der Industriekultur. Previously converted into an event location with guesthouse, the latter now houses offices and lecture rooms.

Two universities with a total of 640 students are currently located on the Campus Göttelborn. Besides htw saar, also the Fachhochschule für Verwaltung des Saarlandes (FHVS) has settled here. The converted former Waschkaue is used by FHVS for the training of roughly 500 students of General Administration and Law Enforcement.

Many good reasons speak for the Campus Göttelborn
The Campus is excellently situated near the A1/A8/A623 motorway network (distance to Saarland´s capital Saarbrücken 20 minutes by car, to Saarbrücken Airport 30 minutes) and offers a flexible management marked by a mix of lettings and sales. The companies on the Campus – among them an internationally leading nanotechnologist, large machine builders, small startups and gastronomy – appreciate this. To date, 16 businesses have created roughly 500 jobs here.
