From Saarland University to the ESA

Since February, the Saarlander Matthias Maurer has been a member of the astronaut team of the European Space Agency, ESA. The foundation stone of his career was laid at the Saarland University where Maurer studied Materials Sciences and, as the first German, graduated in an international studying programme of the Saar University, the EEIGM in Nancy and the University in Barcelona. Now, the ESA astronaut will for the first time visit the Saarbrücken university campus in public and hold several lectures on June 23 and 24. Topics will also include the question of how society benefits from space research.
